Inspection Tour: Visiting the factories in Mandalay Region

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than visited No.8 Garment Factory in Pyaw Bwe Township of Mandalay Region on Sunday. During the visit, he inspected earthquake damage to buildings, equipment and transformer repairs.

The Union Minister then met with the employees and stressed that factories in the earthquake zone must strictly follow Myanmar National Building Code standards during repairs to reduce future damage. The officials were also instructed to plan ahead to minimize losses from natural disasters, maintain detailed repair records and ensure worksite safety.

He added that regular inspections and documentation are required to protect assets while the employees were urged to collaborate for a swift production restart. The Union Minister later proceeded to the No. 8 Textile Factory (Yamethin) to inspect earthquake damage. He instructed the factory officials to conduct equipment inspections and repairs according to specifications and to develop practical plans to resume operations promptly.
