






State Administration Council Member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Union Minister for Transport and Communications, General Mya Tun Oo, accompanied by Deputy Minister and senior officials from the ministry, conducted inspection visits in Bago and Yangon Regions.
The visits focused on the status of basic communication infrastructure, ongoing telecommunications operations, and activities at Myanmar Shipyards. On the morning of May 24, the Union Minister and officials visited the Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) Bago Region Manager Office in Bago.
There, they inspected the departmental buildings and land encompassed within the old Hanthawaddy Palace Wall and gave necessary instructions. Next, they visited the Bago Automatic Exchange Office, where they checked the installation of telecommunications equipment at the automatic exchange, mobile station, and microwave station.
They also assessed the disaster preparedness measures taken to prevent flood-related damage to the equipment and gave necessary directives. Later, the Union Minister and officials visited the Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) Headquarters on Strand Road, Yangon, and held discussions with the Board of Directors.
He emphasized that, as the country’s flag carrier airline, MNA must strive to operate sustainably and achieve long-term success, and provided guidance accordingly. On the morning of May 25, the Union Minister and officials arrived at the MPT Technology Department at the Hanthawaddy Office in Yangon, where they met with officials from KDDI Sumitomo Corporation to discuss necessary matters.
In the afternoon, they proceeded to Myanmar Shipyards, where the Managing Director briefed them on current operations such as vessel construction, repair works, construction of coastal commercial vessel, and financial issues. The Union Minister instructed that operations be expedited and urged cooperation from related departments under the Ministry to support Myanmar Shipyards' needs.
They also inspected two vessels placed on a 12,000-ton capacity slipway, the condition of land development in nearby areas designated for ship construction, and repair operations at the slipway workshop. The Union Minister stressed the importance of focusing on financial mobilization and completing operations in accordance with set quality standards and timelines.
