Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by other relevant officials on Sunday inspected the restoration of roads and bridges damaged by consecutive rains and floods in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.
First, the Prime Minister and party inspected the damages along the old Yangon-Mandalay road caused by erosion from Sin Thay Creek. They then visited the Na Win Creek Bridge (Asone) to assess damage and repair work, including the installation of a temporary Bailey Bridge.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for swift repairs to ensure smooth public transportation, including water channel straightening. The temporary Bailey Bridge, with a load capacity of 40 tons and dimensions of 100 feet long by 24 feet wide, has been under construction since September 11th and is expected to reopen to normal traffic on September 16th.
The Prime Minister and party then proceeded to KinTha Dam, and heard reports on the mountain stream’s rapid flow, rising water level and the dam’s beaching conditions. The Prime Minister instructed staged cleaning and debris removal, with a focus on restoring the dam area and systematically repairing damaged sections.
The Prime Minister also warmly greeted the residents of ThoneMai Village and inquired about the flood situation. He also inspected road damage due to the erosion at the KinTha junction and instructed that debris removal and repairs be undertaken promptly.
Next, the Prime Minister and party inspected temporary Bailey bridge construction at ThaikChaung Bridge and instructed the needs. They then crossed the completed bailey bridge and inspected the ongoing flood debris clean-up activities.
