Inspection Tour : Damage assessment and restoration efforts

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than on Saturday, made field inspections to assess damage and facilitate the resumption of operations at state-owned and private factories affected by the powerful Mandalay earthquake on March 28.

The Union Minister first visited the No. 7 Garment Factory in Myittha Township and the Pharmaceutical Factory (Inyaung) in Kyaukse Township. The Union Minister reviewed the status of repair works and current efforts toward restoring factory operations. 

He inspected the damage and emphasized the need to assess the situation thoroughly while carrying out the restoration work in accordance with the findings of the Disaster Management Committee.

Additionally, the Union Minister visited the Myanmar Mandalay Fu Xing Steel Factory in Sint Kai Township. He noted the widespread damage to residential buildings, factories, clinics, hospitals, schools, and religious structures caused by the recent earthquake and stressed the urgency of accelerating reconstruction efforts. 

He mentioned that there is a high demand for construction materials such as cement, steel and iron, roofing sheets, bricks, and concrete slabs, and that the ministry aims to support the full operational capacity of relevant factories to meet these demands. 

Then, the Union Minister and party toured various stages of the production process at the Fu Xing Steel Factory, which manufactures different sizes of steel bars.
