






On the afternoon of June 14, Deputy Minister for Industry U Yin Maung Nyunt visited Steel Mill No. (2) Pangpet, located in Taunggyi, Shan State. At the factory’s guest hall, he was briefed by the factory manager, responsible personnel, the full-time senior engineering advisor for the construction project, and the project’s lead engineers.
They presented updates on the 35 ongoing tasks necessary to operationalize the Air Separation Unit (ASU). These include the current implementation progress by foreign technical experts, completion percentages, timely procurement and installation of necessary machinery and equipment, efforts to ensure that the required equipment arrives within the designated timeline, and the overall collaboration status between foreign experts and local staff.
After the briefing, the Deputy Minister gave guidance and instructions based on the report. He then inspected the Air Separation Unit, observing how foreign experts, factory officers, and staff were jointly working on the installation and integration of compressors, gearboxes, and the automated control systems. He provided necessary directions on areas that required attention or improvement.
The Deputy Minister also visited the Water Cooling Plant, where he inspected the preparatory work being carried out for system testing.
On the morning of June 15, he revisited the Water Cooling Plant to inspect the trial operation of pumps for the cooling system. He gave instructions to ensure preventive maintenance and regular servicing, so that the pumps can be used sustainably over the long term. He also coordinated with officials to address issues raised in the briefings and ensure effective implementation.
