








Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee and Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, attended a meeting ceremony held on the morning of June 16 at the Union Hall of the Sports and Physical Education Institute (Yangon), located at Kyaikkasan Stadium, Tamwe Township, Yangon Region.
The ceremony was organized to meet with sports teams currently undergoing training in Yangon in preparation for participation in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).
To begin the event, the Union Minister was formally introduced by the various sports teams training in Yangon according to their respective sports disciplines. Then, the Deputy Minister, the Principal of the Sports and Physical Education Institute (Yangon), and other officials gave brief speeches. Afterward, the Union Minister delivered a concluding speech in which he encouraged the athletes to strive to become excellent athletes with clear goals and aspirations.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining true sportsmanship, perseverance, and mental discipline up to the final moments of competition, urging them to uphold the nation's pride and honor. He reminded them that as national representatives, they carry the trust of the country and should work hard to bring glory to Myanmar.
Following the ceremony, the Union Minister and officials had lunch together with the trainees at the institute’s dining hall, during which he also shared words of encouragement with the students. After that, he visited the medical clinic within the institute, inspected its condition, and provided necessary guidance and instructions to the responsible personnel regarding what improvements or provisions were needed.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister and officials met with officials and staff members from the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, as well as teachers, trainers, and trainees, at the Union Hall of the Sports and Physical Education Institute (Yangon), where the Union Minister and officials delivered the speeches.
Following this, the Union Minister and party visited the Wrestling sports training center, where they observed primary selected national Wrestling athletes actively engaged in demonstration training for the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian Games. They also inspected the Gymnastics Training Facility, where primary selected gymnasts were practicing according to their respective disciplines.
The Union Minister urged the athletes to train in line with proper basic techniques and systems, adhere strictly to rules and regulations, and maintain physical fitness and resilience. He emphasized the importance of striving for medals and success, in order to honor and repay the nation for its support and trust.
