Inspection of quake-affected sites: DPM inspected quake-affected sites in Nay Pyi Taw

Member of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, Union Minister for the Office of the Prime Minister, as well as Chairman of the Electric Power and Energy Development Commission, Admiral Tin Aung San, along with accompanying members, conducted inspections on the afternoon of April 21.

They visited sites affected by the powerful earthquake that struck on March 28. They inspected the ongoing restoration of the State Administration Council Office building, which had been damaged in the earthquake. They also reviewed the arrangements made for temporarily relocating the families of staff from the Ministry of Electric Power, Ministry of Energy, and the Prime Minister's office in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.

Initially, Deputy Prime Minister along with officials, visited the damaged State Administration Council Office building. The responsible officials explained the extent of the damage and the restoration plans. The Deputy Prime Minister instructed that special attention be paid to occupational safety during restoration and that the buildings be reconstructed in line with standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure long-term durability.

Next, the Deputy Prime Minister Admiral Tin Aung San, together with Union Minister U Nyan Tun for the Ministry of Electric Power, visited the Tha-pyay (1) staff housing, where staffs of the Ministry reside. They inspected the repairs being carried out by the Ministry and observed the living conditions of the relocated staff.

The Deputy Prime Minister also personally met with the staff, offered words of encouragement, and provided food and supplies. Continuing their inspection, they visited the Dhanatheidhi ဓနသိဒ္ဓိ Sports Ground in Zabuthiri Township, where a new transformer is being installed to supply electricity to a temporary shelter site.

They inspected the arrangements by the UAB Foundation for constructing the shelter and the provisions for food and drinking water for the displaced families of staff from various ministries. Subsequently, Deputy Prime Minister General Tin Aung San and Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin for the Ministry of Energy went to the compound of the Gems and Jewelry Exhibition Hall in Dekkhinathiri Township, which had been designated as a second temporary shelter.

They inspected the site and the support being provided by the Ministry for the staff and their families. During the visit, they met with affected families, provided moral support, and distributed food supplies.

Finally, the Deputy Prime Minister and accompanying members visited the temporary shelter designated for earthquake-affected families of staff from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Union Ministers' Office in Dekkhinathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw. They met with the families, offered words of support, and provided necessary aid and supplies, it’s learnt.
