Inspection of Nat’l Kandawgyi Garden: Acting President inspected Nat’l Kandawgyi Garden

The Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief Gen. Ye Win Oo, entourage members, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Commander of Central Command and responsible officials, inspected the maintenance and management status of the National Kandawgyi Garden in Pyin Oo Lwin township on December 2.

First, at the garden's briefing hall, Director-General of the Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Dr. Thaung Naing Oo and Chief Executive Officer of the garden management company U Yazar Htwe briefed the Acting President and SSPC Chairman.

They explained the implementation status of the guidance given during the inspection visit to Kandawgyi Garden by the SSPC Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services on October 3, 2025, preparations for holding the 18th National Kandawgyi Garden Flower Festival in a grand and vibrant manner, the status of planting ornamental flowers in various plots, plans to include musical performances for visitors seeking recreation, and presented the festival theme song that has been composed and recorded.

Regarding the presentations, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman stated that Pyin Oo Lwin must be a city of flowers, and efforts must be made to successfully cultivate all local and foreign flower varieties for distribution to other regions. Furthermore, as flowers can also be exported to foreign countries, flower cultivation within the Pyin Oo Lwin region must be promoted.

The area's favorable water and soil conditions should be beneficially utilized to develop it in line with the characteristics of a city of flowers. To increase flower production in the Pyin Oo Lwin region, systematic continuation with experts is necessary. He mentioned that while relevant research teams need to work on preserving local flower varieties and improving their color, fragrance, and quality, they also need to test and cultivate good, pure varieties from other regions to ensure they bloom successfully locally.

He added that not only garden areas but also roads and neighborhoods within the city should be planted with trees and flowers to create a pleasing visual environment, among other guidance. Subsequently, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman and members toured the National Kandawgyi Garden by vehicle.

They inspected the mud walking trail, the planting and maintenance of trees and flowers within the garden, research and experimental cultivation at the local flower research center and test plots, and the condition of constructed lake pathways. The guidance on requirements was given based on the officials' reports.

Afterwards, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman and members walked along and inspected the Kandawgyi Garden circular path and fencing works. He instructed to plant ornamental flowers along the walking path, maintain cleanliness and beautification, take necessary measures for the safety of walkers, and gave other necessary guidance.
