






Myanmar Library Foundation (MLF) donated books for the libraries in Yangon Region. Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended a ceremony, held at the Community Center in Bahan Township on Friday.
In his speech, the Union Minister said free rental service of books have been provided for the people by opening 410 public libraries at the districts and townships across the country. The public libraries were also upgraded to the digital library system, and providing services by using digital library management system at 102 township offices.
He added that Myanmar Library Foundation is also donating books, periodicals and furniture for the public libraries. From 2011 to 2016, 343 libraries were built by spending over 4.6 billion kyats while providing furniture for 225 libraries.
During the ceremony, the Union Minister and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein presented 5 million kyats cash donations for the MLF who later donated books for the libraries in Yangon Region. Moreover, a total of 400 books were donated to the MLF.
Afterwards, the Union Minister met with officials from Myanmar Motion Picture Organization for organizing the Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards Presenting Ceremony for 2019, 2020 and 2022. He called for collaborative efforts of all concerned persons for the revival of the movie industry as well as the dramatic art and music industries.
The Union Minister and party later enjoyed the screening of movie “The Teacher” at Thamada Cinema.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister met with the officials from Myanmar Music Association (Central) and discussed for development of music industry.
