India celebrates colourful Mysuru Dasara festival

Mysuru Dasara 2026 culminated on October 21, with the grand Jamboo Savari procession in Karnataka of India. Thousands of Indians dressed in colorful attire march down the streets of the southwestern city of Mysuru alongside an elephant carrying an effigy of the Hindu goddess Chamundeshwari.

The 10-day celebrations honor the triumph of Chamundeshwari over the demon king Mahishasura. The festival officially concluded at night at Bannimantap with the traditional torchlight parade and fireworks.
