Immigration and Population: Meeting with the UNFPA delegation

Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing on Thursday received Mr. Jaime Nadal Roig, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and his delegation at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.

They discussed matters on the upcoming publications of the remaining regional and state report for the 2024 Population and Housing Census, use of the 2024 Census results as a basis for national development activities, and the need of technical assistance by UNFPA.

The meeting also focused on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry and UNFPA to facilitate the implementation of the activities agreed upon under their joint projects, and  UNFPA's plans to provide support for the effective implementation of population and development initiatives. In addition, the talks covered the Ministry's facilitation of entry visas and residence permits for UNFPA's international staff, and the prospects for continued close cooperation between the Ministry and UNFPA.
