Illegal trades: Inspection teams of AILTSC seized illegal trade items

The effective action is being taken supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, to prevent illegal trades under the law.

On 20 February, a combined inspection team led by the Rakhine State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted an inspection and seized 71.74 tons of illegal timbers worth over 5.63 million Kyats in Taungup and Ann townships, and action is taken under the Forest Law.

On 23 February, a combined inspection team led by the Yangon Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force led by the Region Forest Department conducted a surprise inspection, and a total of 0.895 tonne of illegal teak and door pieces worth 268,500 Kyats were seized in Mingaladon Township, and action is taken under the Forest Law.

Similarly, combined inspections led by the State Forest Department under the auspices of the Mon State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections in Mudon Township. A total of 0.837 ton 167,400 Kyats  worth of illegal timber and door pieces were seized on the Mudon-Chaung Nakwa Road, and action is taken under the Forest Law.

Next, the Police Force under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized a Toyota Wish vehicle without a licence (estimated at 3 millions Kyats) in Sagaing Township on 24 February, and action is taken under the Import and Export Law.

According to the report, 17.4000 tons of illegal timbers (estimated at over 1.13 million Kyat) were seized in the Thayawady District Forest Reserve under the management of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force. Therefore, a total of seven arrests (approximately over 10.211 million Kyats) was made on 23 and 24 February, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
