Illegal trade: Timbers, industrial materials and vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 16 February, an on-duty Customs team captured three kinds of goods including 2826 kilogrammes of 30 cm long Party Popper that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Asia World container checkpoint and the two kinds of goods including 170 kilogrammes of Cake Topper that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID).

In addition, on 17 February, officials from combined inspection team seized two kinds of goods including 650 kilogrammes of IQ branded Engine-Mounting made in Thailand that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from two vehicles and three kinds of goods including 1800 kilogrammes of nylon spandex fabrics that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from two vehicles at at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint in Mon State.

On 18 February, the combined team comprised of township forest departments confiscated 48.46 tons of various tembers in Bago, Kyauktaga, Phyu and OakTwin Townships.

Therefore, 7 arrests (estimated value of 116.703 million Kyats) were made on 16, 17 and 18 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
