





An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
On 21 February, 90 cartons of cigarettes (made in Thailand) from two motorbikes in Eain Shae Pyin ward, 200 cartons of cigarettes (made in Thailand) from a warehouse in Kayin Pyin ward and 80 cartons of cigarette from a convenience store in Kayin Pyin (South) ward in Dawei Township were captured.
On 22 February, a total of 3.0222 tonnes of illegal timbers in Kanbalu Township and an unregistered Hilux car in Monywa Township were seized.
On 23 February, a total of 8.076 tonnes of illegal sawed teak at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint from two vehicles heading to Lashio from Mandalay, 200 cartons of liquid dishwashing detergent and 1200 litres of palm oil (two shrimps) from a Hino truck near Hninzi street in No 1 ward of Myawady township, 110 car tyres from a vehicle heading to Yangon from Myawady at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint in Mon State, foodstuffs and consumer goods from a vehicle heading to Yangon from Kyaikto were confiscated.
Therefore, 19 arrests (approximately 273.418 million kyats) were made on three consecutive days from 21 to 23 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
