Illegal trade: Timbers, consumer goods, electronics, vehicles seized

An effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.

On 5 March, 22 kinds of goods worth K18,655,500 from a Fuso Bus at the Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine),  a total of 1.458 tonnes of illegal teaks in Mohnyin Township, on 6 March, a plant growth chamber and 6,631 kilogrammes of glass Ashtray from two containers at the Asia World Port container checkpoint, five kinds of goods from luggage at the Yangon International Airport, bicycles (used) from a Nissan-Diesel auto heading to Yangon from Myawady and two kinds of goods from Yutong Express bus heading to Mandalay from Myawady at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint in Mon State, various goods from five vehicles at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint, an unregistered Honda CRV auto at the junction traffic light of Thanthuma street and Thisar street in South Okkalapa Township, on 7 March, a total of 10.9832 tonnes of illegal timbers in Zigon and Paukkhaung Townships.

Therefore, 26 arrests (estimated value of 429.001 million Kyats) were made on three consecutive days from 5 to 7 March, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
