



Mandalay Region Government organized the 7th Chief Minister's Cup Htamanae Making Competition at the Verosana Jade pagoda compound in Amarapura Township on 1st February.
The competition aims to preserve the traditional customs of Myanmar people and to portray the unity and harmony.
Chairman, Verosana Jade Pagoda Board of Trustees, Soe Naing said “According to tradition, Htamanae were donated to the Buddha and shared to the pilgrims. The essence of the festival is to preserve the culture of Myanmar people and to pass it on to future generations.”
17 teams from the nearby villages such as Daungma, Shwe Lay, ThaNgalTaw participated in the competition.
First Prize Winner, Tat Gyi, Woman Team said “Our group won the first prize in the competition. I am so happy because I did not expect it. I always compete every year. Five girls competed in the competition. I participated in the charity events every year. Passing it on is inherited by parents. As for the difficulty, it is convenient because you are doing what you are used to doing.”
600,000 Kyats cash prize was awarded for the first prize winners, 350,000 Kyats for the second prize and 230,000 kyats for third prize. 50,000 kyats each were also awarded to 14 consolation prize winners.
Similarly, PyinOoLwin Township Administration Council held Htamanae Making Competition, with the participation of 12 teams from various departments. Officials presented 1st, 2nd and3rd prizes to respective winning teams, and the consolation prizes to the remaining participants.
