Honouring Ceremony: Border Areas Development Association Honours 5 Persons

The Honoring Ceremony of Border Areas Development Association (BDA) was held in Yangon, Wednesday.

BDA has been honoring the patrons, executives and members of the association who received religious titles from the Government, donors, authors, doctors and academicians since 2005. This year, BDA honored 5 persons in this 13th Honoring Ceremony.

Chairman, Border Areas Development Association, Maung Maung Soe Tint said “Also, the persons who received ASEAN Awards were honoured in this event. At the same time, we are going to honor the ambassador of our association because her social welfare works have the same value as our works. I also believe she will continue cooperation with us.”

BDA was established in 1996 for the development of socio-economic lives of the people and has been working on various sectors including education, health, livelihood, environment and disaster risk reduction. The honoured persons were awarded certificates of honour.

Patron, Border Areas Development Association, Ko Ko Htwe said “I was honoured today as I got the highest title in religious affairs given by the Government. I implemented construction of pagodas and establishment of Buddha universities, monasteries and nunneries and many others amounting over 20 billion kyats. I’m really pleased to be honoured here – I will work on other sectors too.”

With their ambassador, the Border Areas Development Association will begin

prevention of violence against children and women awareness program next month, it’s learnt.
