Hong Kong's leader in waiting appeared on local TV late on Saturday in a show described as a forum. John Lee fielded questions from reporters and recorded questions from citizens and he said he hoped to gain the trust of the people of Hong Kong.
Lee is a former policeman who was promoted to the number two position in Hong Kong's local government last year. A small committee of just under 1,500 people trusted by the Chinese Communist Party will meet on 8 May to confirm his selection. Once confirmed, Lee would be sworn in on 1 July.
