Heavy rainfall that began in Istanbul Wednesday

Heavy rainfall that began in Istanbul Wednesday continues to disrupt daily life across the city. Flooding has been reported in several areas, leaving some residents stranded. One of the worst-hit areas is the Ayazaga neighbourhood in the Sariyer district, where 18 to 19 people were trapped by rising floodwaters in an area with businesses, factories and production facilities.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and rescue teams have been carrying out evacuation operations since last night. Those stranded are being brought to safety with the help of heavy machinery and Coast Guard boats. Operations continue uninterrupted.
