




Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win attended a meeting at India Center in Yangon on Sunday at the invitation of India-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce (IMCC). Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Vinay Kumar extended greetings and explained the cooperative measures in various sectors between Myanmar and India.
The Union Minister said India is the major trade partner of Myanmar and in 2021-2022, the trade volume between the two countries reached about 1.89 billion US dollars. Medical products are the major import item, and the ministry makes annual purchase for medicines from India with the allotted budget by the state and distributed to the public hospitals. He called for the visit of the Indian physicians to conduct joint health treatment program in cooperation with the Myanmar physicians, and to invest in pharmaceutical industry.
The Union Minister also expressed thanks for donation of COVID-19 vaccines, oxygen plants, medicines and medical equipment during the time of COVID-19 outbreak in Myanmar. The IMCC Chairman and Secretary later explained the work undertakings of the association. Later, the Union Minister and officials replied the queries raised by the Indian entrepreneurs.
