
The opening ceremony of 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Myanmar Health Research Congress was held at the Department of Medical Research, No (5) Ziwaka Road, Dagon Township, Yangon Region at 8:30 a.m. on 21st February with the hybrid feature of Virtual System and In-person attendance.
The Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered an opening speech to the ceremony through Video Message. The Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win gave an opening remark at the ceremony. The congress will be held under the theme of “Response to COVID-19 in Myanmar: Reflection after the Third Wave”.
During the congress, the medical researchers and experts will discuss the topics including “Experiences encountered during the third wave of COVID 19 in Myanmar”, “Overcoming challenges in COVID -19 vaccination”, “Experiences encountered during the third wave of COVID 19 in Myanmar”, “Myanmar- Korea Joint Symposium (2022): New insights to combat infectious diseases: BPaL DR-TB regimen and molecular approach to Hepatitis B”, “Inter-professional education and inter-professional collaborative practice: Promise for quality health workforce and quality healthcare”.
During the congress, 69 research papers and 27 research posters will be read. And the best paper awards including Basic Research, Applied Research, Health Systems Research and best poster will be presented. The opening ceremony was attended by the director-generals, rectors under the Ministry of Health, medical researchers, paper reader researchers and experts from outside through Virtual system.
With the commemoration of golden jubilee, the opening ceremony was concluded with the video clips on the remarks of honor given by the retired director-generals who nurtured the department of medical research. By commemorating the golden jubilee Myanmar Health Congress, the statues of Professor Dr. Mya Tu and Professor Dr. U Aung Than Ba Tu who were founders of the department of medical research were unveiled. The congress will take place from 21st to 25th of February, it’s learnt.
