










The opening ceremony of the 51st Myanmar Health Research Congress was held at the Department of Medical Research, No (5) Ziwaka Road, Dagon Township, Yangon Region at 8:30 a.m. on 20th February.
First, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered an opening speech via video message.
Then, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win said the Ministry of Health is implementing for the progress of the public health standard in line with the guidance of State Administration Council, Health Research Congress organizing as of today is with great legacy and congratulates for the outstanding Myanmar health researchers. The Theme for this year congress is “The Fight Against Zoonotic Diseases: A One Health Approach”. As the development of research works are directly proportional to the comprehensive development of the country, the Ministry of Health will provide assistance for the development of the research works etc.
Then, Director-General Prof Dr Zaw Than Tun of the Department of Medical Research delivered a greeting speech and the documentary group photo was taken.
Afterward, the Union Minister Dr. Thet Khaing Win, Yangon Region Chief Minister and region ministers, director generals of the Ministry of Health, Rectors and Commandant of the Defence Services Medical Research Centre Brigadier General Kyee Myint observed the posters displayed.
The morning session paper reading of 51st Myanmar Health Research Congress was held at the Department of Medical Research, No (5) Ziwaka Road, Dagon Township and the Union Minister and Director General of the Department of Medical Research Dr. Zaw Than Tun presided over the event.
At the paper reading session, the researchers read the research papers, the attendees discussed on the papers, the Union Minister gave a speech of conclusion and the morning session of paper reading was concluded.
The congress will take place from 20th to 24th of February. During the congress, 18 basic research papers, 32 Applied Research papers, 8 Health Systems Research papers and 34 research posters will be read. And the best paper awards including Basic Research, Applied Research, Health Systems Research and best poster will be presented.
The experts from Pusan National University of ROK, Miyazaki University of Japan will attend the congress in person and the ones from University of California Davis of USA will attend via online, it’s learnt.
