Health Information: Detection Of COVID-19 Variant ‘Omicron’

Ministry of Health released information on detection of the COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’. The information states that the Ministry is continuously conducting “COVID-19 Molecular Disease Surveillance”, and releasing information on the detection of COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’.

The laboratory samples of the COVID-19 virus of 36 Myanmar nationals and 1 foreigner entering from the UAE, Malaysia, India, the Republic of Korea, Singapore and Thailand by relief flights were tested. The test shows that they have the COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron’.

They have been admitted to designated hospitals for medical treatment - those who took the same flights with them now undergo strict quarantine and lab tests.
