Cities in Vietnam are seeking energy-saving measures as unusually hot temperatures threaten to stretch the country’s power supply.

Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, has implemented numerous solutions, with the most notable one being the new economic lighting mode that's resulted in 170,000 USD in savings.  When it comes to parks and flower gardens, only half of the lights will be used, and they must be turned off completely by 11 p.m.

Lights in streets, alleyways, and suburban areas will be reduced by one-third by default, and then by another one-third at 11 p.m. The changes also help to lower the risk of power overloading, fires, and explosions, and contribute to reducing the stress on the power grid this summer
