Greening Environ: Tree planting activity in Shan State

Shan State held a 2026 moonson tree plantation ceremony in the compound of Taunggyi Firewood Plantation Reserved Area near Naung Ta Li Village on June 13th.

Union Minister for Women Affairs Dr. Thet Thet Zin attended the ceremony, together with the Shan State Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe, concerned officials and locals.

At the ceremony, the Chief Minister said the tree planning event was held with the aims to prevent deforestation in Inlay Lake watershed area. He stressed that active cooperation of locals remain essential in forestry preservation efforts to create green environ. In order to preserve ecosystem and sustainable development of forest recourses, Shan State will hold 47 tree planning events during 2026 monsoon season.

The initiative could benefit for socio economic lives of the locals while preventing climate change. The Union Minister, the Chief Minister and officials later presented saplings to the related organizations and departments, and participated in the tree planing at the designated locations. During the event, 1000 saplings of 7 viarities of tree species were planted.
