

In commemoration of the World Environment Day 2020, a collective tree planting ceremony was held at Hakha College on 5th June.
A total of 2,000 Cherry saplings were planted at the ceremony, aiming to create greening environ in the Township. It also aims to attract more visitors so as to promote local tourism industry.
Administrator, Hakha Township General Administrative Department, Myint Oo said “The ceremony aims to create greening and beautiful environ in the compound of Hakha College. The Vice President also instructed to implement greening tasks in Hakha District. We also have plan to grow Cherry trees along the both side of Bogyoke Road in downtown Hakha, aiming to support the tourism industry.”
Forest Department provided saplings for the tree planting ceremony. The departmental staff together with the faculties from Hakha College took part in the ceremony.
Head, Hakha Township Forest Department, Than Tun Oo said “We organize tree planting ceremony with the participation of the faculties from Hakha College and departmental staff. We plan to grow a total of 40,000 saplings during 2020 monsoon season.”
It is learnt that Township Agriculture Department is providing saplings to those who wish to plant trees for free of charge.
