Greece, USA hold military exercise to strengthen defence ties

Greek and United States army aviation forces participated in a live-fire military exercise in northern Greece on Wednesday. US Ambassador to Greece said the exercises were part of an effort to strengthen defence ties between the two NATO allies. Athens and Washington signed a defence cooperation agreement in October during a visit by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Athens, where Greek Prime Minister urged the United States to use its clout to defuse tensions in the eastern Mediterranean. in the eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus and Turkey are locked in a dispute over offshore drilling rights.
