Germany charges former Ukraine army officer over Nord Stream blasts

Federal prosecutors in Germany say they have indicted a former Ukrainian army officer for allegedly attacking the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines and other actions. They made the announcement on Thursday. The former Ukrainian army officer was arrested in Italy by local authorities last August and extradited to Germany.

The indictment alleges that, the defendant and others connected with the military developed a plan to sabotage the pipelines. The indictment goes on to say that the purpose of the plot was to permanently halt gas supplies through the pipelines and prevent Russia from earning revenue.
