The U.S. is expanding use of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine to children as young as 12. The Food and Drug Administration announced that the shot is safe and offers strong protection for younger teens based on testing of more than 2,000 U.S. volunteers. Jane Ellen Norman, 12, got her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Tuesday morning. 12-year-old, Jane Ellen Norman said "I hope that they all get vaccinated and so we can see each other and not have to be so far apart and not have to be worried that we might get COVID."
Jane Ellen Norman's Mother, English Norman said "I think they have done such a good job as kids learning to wear masks and wash their hands and stay distant. I think for them it's caused so much anxiety to go places, I mean they refuse to take off their masks. So I love that my kids have taken the responsibility of their safety on themselves, and I think it's exciting that now their anxiety can start to lessen and they can feel safe."
Most vaccines rolling out worldwide have been authorized for adults.
