










At the Sitagu Advanced Eye Hospital of the Sitagu Buddhist University (Yangon), located in the Dagon Myothit (North) Township, Yangon Region, free medical treatment is being provided to eye patients from across the country. During the current 18th treatment program, approximately 1,200 patients came for examinations, and around 500 patients underwent eye surgery free of charge.
On Sunday afternoon, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu, accompanied by region ministers and officials, visited the hospital. They paid respects to the Sitagu Sayadaw, who serves as the State Ovadacariya, Chancellor of the Sitagu World Buddhist Universities, and Sangharaja of the Shwegyin Buddhist Sect. They offered donations and contributed funds to support the free examination and surgical treatment of eye patients and to help meet the hospital's operational needs.
The Chief Minister and officials then observed the ongoing surgeries and met with patients waiting for treatment, offering words of encouragement.
On Monday morning, the Chief Minister and officials attended a ceremony held at the farmland of farmer U Aung Lwin in Thanatpyin Village, Hlegu Township, Yangon Region. The event featured the use of a direct-seeding machine (Seeder) for monsoon paddy cultivation, as well as the distribution of fertilizer and rice seeds. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister delivered opening remarks and provided monsoon rice seeds and fertilizers to farmers to support full-scale cultivation during the monsoon planting season.
The Chief Minister and officials subsequently visited the Vegetable and Plant Biotechnology Division and the Vegetable, Fruit and Crop Research and Development Center (VFRDC) in Hlegu Township, Yangon Region. At the Yemon Conference Hall, officials presented reports on ongoing activities using PowerPoint presentations. The Chief Minister coordinated relevant matters and provided guidance and instructions as needed.
The delegation also inspected the cultivation of Robusta coffee being grown as an intercrop within mango plantations.
In addition, the Chief Minister and officials visited the dairy cattle farm operated by FunHwa Company Limited Monday morning, where they provided guidance and instructions to responsible officials.
The Chief Minister and officials later attended a literary talk organized by the Yangon Region Women's Affairs Committee to commemorate Myanmar Women's Day 2026, where he delivered opening remarks, it’s reported.
