France’s Toulouse city council, alongside Clermont-Ferrand, announced on Thursday the introduction of a curfew for unaccompanied minors under 16 during the FIFA World Cup to prevent large-scale public gatherings and limit potential urban unrest.

The measure was prompted by concerns over rioting and vandalism that occurred following recent major soccer finals. The curfews are paired with additional security measures, including bans on city-sponsored fan zones and restrictions preventing bars from setting up outdoor television screens.
