Foreign visitors to Myanmar: Over 800 tourists arrived from Feb. to Jan. 2023

The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism has granted mission for operating international flights since July 2022.

During 2022, there were over 110 flights entered Myanmar through Yangon International Airport and through the trips, over 1,200 foreign visitors arrived in Myanmar. Most of the visitors entering Myanmar are from Thailand. From February to January of this year, over 800 foreign tourists arrived in Myanmar.

NandaAung, Director, Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Yangon), said " Most of the visitors entering Myanmar are from Thailand. In 2023, there are 53 flights which entered Myanmar through international airports in January and there were a total of 491 foreign visitors. In February, the number of foreign visitors to Myanmar is 68. The number of tourists has progressed to 861. Out of 861 foreign tourists, 631 are from Thailand. The Thai visitors mostly visit Yangon, Bago and KyaikHtiYoe Pagoda."

According to the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, in February, there were 87 visitors from the U.S. and via Yangon, they visit Heho, Pintaya, Kalaw, Bagan-Nyaung U and Mandalay and also study Yangon-Bago tour. Especially, the arrival of Russian visitors is more than the previous years. There were 16 Russian tourists in January and the number was 20 in February. Through Yangon, they visit Thandwe, Ngapali, NyaungShwe, Bagan, Poppa, Bago, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay among others. They mostly visit Bago and KyaikHtiYoe tour.
