Flowers Return to Community on Mother’s Day amid Pandemic in Shanghai

May 8 is Mother's Day and during the current COVID-19 wave, many Shanghai residents are finally able to buy flowers group purchases after weeks of lockdown.

Peonies and carnations are the most popular flowers for the occasion as many online fresh food retailers are also distributing flowers for free to bring festive greetings to the elderly.

In Caojiadu branch of Hema Fresh, an Alibaba-backed online grocery retailer, a batch of flowers was being put into a special box after being disinfected.

It is understood that a total of about 4,000 bouquets of flowers were delivered to 50 communities across the city over the weekends.
