






Water level of Ayeyawady River has been surged since the morning of May 31st in Myitkyina due to the consecutive heavy rain in northern Myanmar.
Due to the swelling river, low lying areas in Myitkyina were inundated starting Sunday morning. Rescue and relief measrues are being carried under the supervision of the state government and the Northern Command. Temporary relief camps have been opened to ecacuate the affected communities. Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan oversaw the rescue and relief measures, and provided necessary assistance.
The flood water has inundated the areas near Aung Mingala Bridge, Manaw Upein Bridge, Lae Kone. Kyet Paung Chan, Rampu, Myo Thit Gyi and Sitapu Wards. Ten relief camps were opened in the township, providing accommodation to over 4,000 affected individuals from more than 800 households. Basic foodstuff were also provided for the affected communities.
