First Day of Hearing Commenced: Hearing in the Case between the Gambia and Myanmar

The oral hearing in the case between The Gambia and Myanmar is being held at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, from January 12 to January 29.

The hearing for the first day commenced at 10:00 AM local time on January 12, attended by the President of the Court, the Vice-President, ten judges, and two judges appointed by each of the parties in the case. At the hearing, the President of the Court delivered the opening address.

The Agent of The Gambia, who is the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, provided explanations and arguments. The Gambia's counsels presented their first round of oral arguments as part of The Gambia's case. It is reported that The Gambia's first round of oral arguments will continue from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM local time on January 13.
