First Case Of Death: A 69-Year Old Covid-19 Confirmed Patient Died

A 69 years old Case -05 COVID-19 confirmed patient has died on Tuesday morning. The patient has sought medical treatment of nose-cancer disease in Australia for about a month.

He stayed for about 4 days in Singapore on his way back home to Myanmar and arrived at Myanmar on 14th March. As he suffered from some symptoms of fever, coughing and sore throat, he has been giving medical treatment in ICU of Yangon General Hospital from 25th of March.

A lab specimen from his was obtained and sent to the National Health Laboratory (Yangon) and the lab result on the 26th of March showed he has COVID-19 disease. He was transferred to  Waibagi Specialist Hospital on the 27th and continued treatment at the ICU.

The patient was died from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome with Septic Shock, COVID-19 with Severe Community Acquired Pneumonia and Underlying CA Nose with Radio Therapy.

According to WHO, 40% of positive cases have suffered mild symptoms, another 40% suffered major symptoms, 15% suffered severe symptoms and only 5% suffered critical symptoms. Five out of 100 cases may died from this disease. The elder persons and those who suffered chronicle diseases, receiving steroid medication and less resistance are likely to suffer severe symptoms and caused to death.

The cause of death of Case-05 patient is due to old age and less resistance by cancer disease and radiation therapy.
