Firefighters worked overnight to tackle a blaze at a packaging plant in Birmingham on Sunday after some 8,000 tonnes of cardboard and paper caught fire.

Over 110 firefighters and 20 fire appliances were involved in the operation after West Midlands Fire Service declared it a "major incident".

Some operations have resumed at the Smurfit Kappa recycling centre, officials said Monday. The fire service said crews will likely stay on the site for a couple of days to further extinguish the fire.
