EV Charging Station: The very first facility opened in Nay Pyi Taw

The very first EV Charging Station was opened at Tha Pyay Kone Market in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Union Minister for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo, Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Tin Oo Lwin and officials attended the opening ceremony of the charging station.

The Steering Committee on National Development of Electric Vehicles and Related Industries has assigned 9 companies to establish EV charging stations in Yangon, Mandalay and Yangon-Mandalay Expressways as a pilot project. Among 9 companies, NPK Motors Co., Ltd, Grand Sirius (GS) Company, AGAPE Love Co., Ltd have been approved to build charging stations in Nay Pyi Taw.

The newly opened facility was being undertaking by NPK Motors Co., Ltd.

Yamone Oo, NPK Motors Co., Ltd (MG Myanmar), Marketing Manager said "Currently we have implemented the establishing of EV charging stations and operating EV taxis in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw under the guidance of the Steering Committee on National Development of Electric Vehicles and Related Industries. The first MG EV charging station is opened today as a first EV charging station in Myanmar and plans are underway to import BEVs and to establish charging station across the nation to develop the transportation sector. "

The pilot project is implemented to raise public awareness of using EVs and operating EV taxi service and establishing charging stations is the first priority. To ensure the widely utilization of EVs across the nation and to develop the EVs related industries, the relevant ministries and departments are working on tax exemption and other benefits.
