Three weeks into the fighting in Ethiopia's Tigray region, refugees continued to flee towards Sudan Tuesday.

The UN estimates that over 41,000 people have tried to escape the violence since November 4th.  In Hamdayet transit centre, people continue to enter via the Tekeze River, a small body of water that separates the two countries. Aid organizations on the ground estimate that over 90 people crossed the river Tuesday morning with numbers fluctuating between 500-600 a day coming from Ethiopia to Sudan.

Thousands of refugees have been transported in the last week to Umm Rakouba and Village 8 to relieve some of the congestion at the border. Nearly one million are estimated to have been displaced by the fighting in the Tigray region.
