Equestrian Sports Competition: Aiming to strengthen interest in equestrian games

In honoring the 76th Union Day, the equestrian sports competition, organized by the Myanmar Equestrian Federation (MEF) was held on 10th February at the Myanmar Equestrian Federation horse racecourse in Dagon Myo Thit (North) Township.

To commemorate the 76th Union Day that will fall on 12th February, the equestrian sport competition organized by the Myanmar Equestrian Federation will be held in 3 categories: dressage, Myanmar traditional gallop ride and show jumping. 

Chairman, Myanmar Equestrian Federation, Pyone Maung Maung said "The equestrian competition will be held for 3 days from 10th to 12th February. 30 equestrian athletes are going to compete in this competition and trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners. In addition, a certificate will be awarded to horse owner and a ravin will be awarded to the winner horse. The horse riding competition had been suspended for 3 years and today’s competition was successful with the actively participation of the equestrian athletes and horse-loving enthusiasts in Myanmar. "

Plans are underway to hold this equestrian sports competition not only in Yangon but also in other regions and states during the whole year of 2023. Aiming to reach the Myanmar equestrian games to the international standard, plans are being undertaken to add new categories such as horse sports and horse endurance race (marathon) in next competitions.

1st prize winner, Gallop ride competition (Group-A), Aung Kyaw Win said "Both I and my horse practice together every morning to compete in this competition. I participated from Nyaung Oo of Mandalay region. For the final competition, I’ll try my best with sportsmanship. "

1st prize winner (Group-B), Gallop ride competition  , Nay Lin said "In order to win in the competition, it’s necessary to have balanced works between riders and horses. In addition to taking special care to my horse, I always conduct riding training together with competitor horse. I believe that I will achieve success as much as I try."

The international show jumping competition organized by Myanmar Equestrian Federation will be continued and the final competition will be held on 12th February and prizes will be awarded to respective winners.
