Environmental Conservation: Forest plantations and nurseries inspected

On Saturday, Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Dr. Thaung Naing Oo, inspected monsoon forest plantations and nurseries along Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in Bago Region and Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on Saturday.

At Wakatote Nursery Garden, the Deputy Minister heard reports on production and distribution of saplings and gave necessary instructions. The Deputy Minister then inspected the greening sites within forest reserves and protected forests along the expressway.

During the visit, he stressed on effective supervision, systematic seasonal forest management and maintenance activities.

The Deputy Minister also emphasized the need to accelerate roadside greening initiatives along inter village and inter district roads, encouraging greater public participation in the maintenance of roadside plantations and village firewood plantations.

Furthermore, the Deputy Minister urged officials to ensure the timely completion and thriving of state-owned forest plantations. He also called for stronger supervision and support to enable the successful development of private teak and hardwood plantations, while continuously monitoring the illegal encroachment into forest reserves and protected forests.
