Elephant Conservation-based Tourism: Shwe Set Taw-Mann River Elephant Camp to be reopened

Shwe Set Taw-Mann River Elephant Camp will be reopened for people to visit the Mann Shwe Settaw Pagoda Festival by elephant-ride in Minbu Township, Magway Region, according to the in-charge of the camp, Assistant Director U Hla Than.

The elephant camp was opened in Padaung-Pyaw Bwe forest protection area of Myanma Timber Enterprise in February, 2019 with the aim of attracting domestic and foreign visitors and giving tourism services. The camp has been temporarily closed on 25th March because of COVID-19 until now.

It will be reopened together with Mann Shwe Set Taw Pagoda festival. It is planned to open daily at 7am to 6pm. There are 22 elephant conservation-based tourism camps including Shwe Set Taw-Mann River Elephant Camp of Myanma Timber Enterprise across the nation, it is learnt.
