






Union Election Commission (UEC) Chairman U Than Soe inspected the maintenance and storage of Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVMs) used in the 2025 general election in Hpa-an Township of Kayin State, and Mawlamyaing Township of Mon State on 17 and 18 July.
During the meetings with members of the Kayin and Mon State MEVM Supervisory Committees and officials, the UEC Chairman said the 2025 general election proved that MEVMs ensured easy voting, accurate and rapid vote counting and a free, fair and credible election.
He stressed the need for proper storage, regular inspection and effective use of the machines in upcoming by-elections and future general elections. Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Win Than then pledged the necessary support and supervision to ensure the successful use of the voting machines in upcoming By-Election and the General Elections.
The UEC member and attendees provided reports on the storage conditions of MEVMs and battery maintenance. The UEC Chairman and commission members later inspected the storage of the voting machines and batteries and instructed officials to prevent damage.
On July 17th, the Commission Chairman attended the completion ceremony of the MEVM Maintenance Training at District General Administration Department in Mawlamyaing and presented awards and completion certificates to outstanding
