Efforts for Peace: UWSP Delegation Pays Courtesy Call on President

A delegation led by United Wa State Party (UWSP) Vice Chairman U Zhao Guoan paid a courtesy call on President U Min Aung Hlaing at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday morning.

During the meeting, both sides discussed efforts to invite ethnic armed organizations to engage with the government to achieve peace and stability across the nation. They exchanged views on the 1989 peace talks between the Tatmadaw and the Wa group, the state’s endeavours to build a democratic federal union in line with the 2008 Constitution and progress of education, healthcare and transportation sectors.

The discussions also covered measures to combat online money laundering, online scam, and drug trafficking nationwide, as well as the United Wa State Army’s efforts to address these issues. Both sides also discussed strengthening the internal peace process and promoting comprehensive development in the Wa area.
