





To accelerate and develop hotel and tourism sector, efforts are being implemented to further identify and promote various types of tourism, ensure systematic and sustainable long-term development of the hotel and tourism industry, and elevate service quality standards. In this regard, Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism, and Culture, U Maung Myint, met with hotel and tourism associations and entrepreneurs from Tachileik Monday morning at Hotel Tachileik in Tachileik, Shan State (East).
During the meeting, the Union Minister delivered an opening address, stating that his visit was aimed at fostering further development of the cultural, hotel, and tourism sectors in Shan State (East). He emphasized that the Government is working to promote the hotel and tourism industry while simultaneously preserving traditional cultural heritage.
He also noted that Myanmar possesses strong historical evidence and a magnificent cultural heritage, and that all Myanmar citizens should take pride in their nationality. The Ministry is providing multifaceted support for the development of the tourism industry in Shan State (East).
He urged that in striving for the long-term sustainable development of hotels and tourism, it cannot be achieved by the Ministry alone, but requires the collaborative participation of relevant departments, Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), hotel and tourism associations, local community organizations, and the public—each contributing from their respective sectors in unison for regional development.
Following this, officials and entrepreneurs from the attending associations presented the challenges they are currently facing, and the Union Minister provided necessary coordination and assistance. Subsequently, the Union Minister and responsible officials visited Wan Pong ဝမ်ပုံ Port and Golden Triangle Paradise Hotel, where they inspected operations. Responsible officials explained their respective sectoral activities, and the Union Minister gave necessary guidance and directives in response to their presentations.
