Educative Talk: Commemoration event for the International Day

Hailing the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which will be fall on June 26th, an educative talk on prevention against the narcotic drugs was held in Yangon on Thursday.

The ceremony was organized by the Myanmar Drug Addicts Rehabilitation Association(Central)in cooperation with the partner organizations.

Chairman, Myanmar Drug Addicts Rehabilitation Association(Central), San Shein said "We held this ceremony for the public to know the disadvantages and dangers of the narcotic drugs. The event was attended by those who are receiving treatments at the rehabilitation camp, and the volunteers who provide assistance to them. It also marks as an activity for the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which will be held globally on 26th June."

Staff Officer, Information & Public Relations Department (Tamwe), Moh Moh Aung said "We conduct the educative campaign for prevention the use of narcotic drugs to the public through the display of posters and books. We will also distribute educative pamphlets at the upcoming ceremony of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which will be fall on 26th June."

Officials from the Department of Rehabilitation explained the implementation of the rehabilitation works and social assistance for the drug addicts. 

Khin Swe Hlaing, Assistant Director, Department of Rehabilitation said "At the Rehabilitation Camp in Yangon, the treatments have been provided to the drug addicts at the respective hospitals and clinics for three months. During this period, they have been provided with treatments for mental and physical health with the help of the volunteers. Moreover, vocational training courses are also provided for them."

The work implementations of the Myanmar’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force, drug eradication works being carried out in the country, rehabilitation works and knowledge on HIV/ AIDS were also explained during the ceremony.
