






2026-2027 Curriculum Development Seminar of Teacher’s Training University was held at the Yankin Education Degree College in Yangon on Sunday, with the attendance of Union Minister for Education Dr Chaw Chaw Sein.
First, the Union Minister said plans are underway to upgrade Education Degree Colleges from Mandalay, Pyay, Taunggyi, Pathein and Thatone into Teachers’ Training Universities, and courses will be launched on November 2026, offering M.A (Education) and M.Sc (Education) degrees. Those graduated from the universities will be appointed as Senior Assistant Teachers (SATs).
She added that arrangements are being made for outstanding teachers who completed B.A/ B.Sc (Education) to join the M.A/M.Sc (Education) courses. She also said it is necessary to arrange harmonized curriculums for M.A/M.Sc courses. For this, Subject Wise Curriculum Committee-SWCC and Curriculum Development Team – CDT including external experts were organized.
She urged all to make coordination and cooperation amogn the teachers in upgrading the colleges into universities. Afterwards, the Union Minister provided cash assistance for students from Education Degree Colleges in Yankin, Thingangyun, Hlegu, Hakha, Katha and Lashio.
Next, the Union Minister observed the discussions regarding the education psychology and curriculum and coordinated the needs. The seminar is set to run for three days from 20th to 22nd February.
On the same day, Union Minister Dr Chaw Chaw Sein attended the ceremony to handover the Digital Libraries to University of Foreign Languages (Yangon) and Yangon University of Education.
At the event, the Union Minister expressed her belief that the Digital Library could help support for capacity building of teachers and conducting research works. Then, the clarification was made on the handover of Digital Library and Learning Management System.
After launching the Digital Library, the Union Minister and party viewed around the facility. The Digital Library project is set to be inititated at University of Foreign Languages (Yangon) and Yangon University of Education, under the Digital Transformation in Education program.
