Support for Sports: Zwegapin Indoor Stadium opens in Hpa-An

An opening ceremony for the Zwegapin Indoor Stadium was held in Hpa-An of Kayin State on Sunday, in honour of the 81st anniversary Armed Forces Day.

Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Hotels and Tourism Jeng Phang Naw Taung attended the ceremony, and took part in formal opening of the new facility. In his speech, the Union Minister highlighted the importance of sports for national development and encouraged cooperation to improve sports standards.

He said modern sports facilities are essential for producing talented athletes who can bring honor to the state and the country. The new indoor stadium measures 200 feet by 130 feet and can seat more than 2,000 spectators.

The new facility is expected to strengthen sports activities and promote youth development in Kayin State. A volleyball match and sports demonstrations were also held to mark the opening. Officials later inspected the stadium, swimming pool, and youth center, and met with staff to discuss ongoing development and cooperation.
