Drivers racing to fill tanks before China raises fuel prices as global oil costs soar

People are queuing to refuel their vehicles at a petrol station in Nanjing city in the eastern province of Jiangsu ahead of nationwide petrol and diesel price rises announced by Chinese authorities that would take effect from Tuesday.

Gasoline and diesel retail price caps in the world's second-largest oil consumer will increase by 695 yuan and ​670 yuan per metric ton, respectively, from Tuesday, according to ​a notice from the National Development and Reform Commission.
