Sri Lanka is determined to accelerate its green energy transition from renewable sources by 2030, driven by soaring global oil prices and severe import shocks.

Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka announced that the country will likely need to push renewable generation beyond the initial 70% target. The nation received a $150 million funding boost from the World Bank to add 1 gigawatt of new solar and wind capacity and modernize the power grid.
